About the artwork

The artist tightened the spacing as the rings move inward, which keeps the center crisp and stops the many petal layers from collapsing into visual noise. Umber presents a mandala built from repeated petal shapes, scalloped bands, and a small rosette locked at the middle of a round panel. The subject reads as abstract first, though its layered petals also suggest a flower seen from directly above. Brown, cream, black, and soft beige carry the whole image, with dark outlines giving each segment a firm edge against the pale ground. That restrained palette keeps the pattern steady instead of loud, even as the line density increases toward the core, where dots, hatching, and nested borders pack the surface with detail. Fine pen work appears throughout, from parallel stripes to tiny scallops and pointed leaf forms, and the repetition is precise enough that slight shifts in spacing become part of the surface rhythm. And the circular format matters in placement because a square frame would feel less resolved around this design. It suits a clean wall with some breathing room, especially in an entry, living area, or quiet office where the centered symmetry can hold attention without competing with many nearby objects. The surface looks matte and flat, with visible drawn linework on a smooth wooden panel.
