About the artwork

A quiet warmth settles over this scene because the pale clearing is flooded with light and the two seated figures are still. The technique looks like watercolor, with thin washes that bloom into one another, soft edges around the misty trees, and dark linear marks that pin the trunks in place. Greeshm Ritu | Summer Forest Landscape Art uses a pale cream ground with smoky blue gray at the left, then pushes in orange, red, ochre, and olive green along the forest floor and the rising bank, which gives the whole view a dry summer heat. The subject is a forest landscape with two women seated in the lower right, facing inward toward the open space and the stand of tall trees, while a low dark strip at left suggests water or shadow near the bright band of foliage. And it will sit best on a medium or large wall where the open lower half has room to breathe, because the image depends on distance for those loose washes to gather into trunks, figures, and the bright winding edge of orange running through the woods.
