This painting portrays Jahaj Mahal (Ship Palace) built by Sultan Ghiyas-ud-din-Khilji around the year 1450 AD in Mandavgarh near Indore in India. Its architecture is an amalgam of Afghan, Mughal, Hindu and Mesopotamian styles. Created around this beautiful monument is a dreamy, surrealistic garden of Silk Cotton tree, showing off its large flashy red flowers and its cotton pods floating in sky like boats. A bird in the sky-about to fly out-imparts life into the work. The pond of the monument has the flowers imaginatively floating in the water.

Vijay primarily does Watercolors. These are story & philosophy based, involving strong imaginary compositions, and some amount of surrealism. The inspiration comes from literature, nature study, and worldwide travels. The paintings are soft, serene, and vibrant. Admirers of his art describe these as "Happy Paintings".
