About the artwork

Deep blue, charcoal, and burnt orange set the palette, and they throw a low, cinematic glow into a room instead of brightening it. The dark street and shadowed facades hold most of the surface in near black, while the lit tower and orange reflections keep the image from going flat. Chic-ago Downtown works best where there is open wall space around it, since the tall vertical format and narrow street view need breathing room to keep the central tower from feeling boxed in. In a corridor, office, or living area with clear sight lines, the upward pull reads quickly. But on a short wall crowded by shelves or a wide console, the architecture can feel compressed because the buildings already press inward from both sides. The artwork is a downtown street at night, with a bright tower centered between tall blocks, a wet road, a few cars, and small points of street lighting. The scene leans on vertical rise and tunnel-like depth, so the eye moves from the glossy pavement up through the pale blue gap of sky. The acrylic painting appears layered and smooth from a distance, with softened edges in the haze and sharper lines on windows, lamps, and reflections that streak across the road. This is wrong for a small bedroom, a kids room, or any space that needs light, airy color.
