About the artwork

Ganesha dominates the painting with the veena crossing the body and raised hands opening the figure outward. The deity sits almost full frame at the center, with the trunk curling to the right and the instrument set on a strong diagonal that breaks the vertical body shape. Some edges dissolve. And the face, arms, and torso are built with loose brushwork, thinned washes, and long runs of paint that drip down through the image, so the figure feels half formed and half stained into the surface at once. The palette stays in ochre, amber, rust, brown, and off white, with darker passages behind the head and under the instrument pushing the lighter body forward. This reads as a painting with a visibly layered surface.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Vikrant Karyakarte

Vikrant Karyakarte

I am Vikrant P. Karyakarte, a professional artist with over 14 years of experience. Painting has been my passion since childhood and my chosen profession. For me, painting is not just applying colour on canvas; it is a way to express what I see, feel, and think. I work across subjects and styles, especially nature, animals, vehicles, and Lord Ganesha. I have also created historical series on Shivcharitra, the Goa Inquisition, and Aryabhatta. My works have been exhibited in India and abroad.
