About the artwork

Ganesha dominates the picture plane, seated cross legged with a long string instrument laid across the lap and lotus forms raised in the upper hands. The figure reads as devotional and frontal, with the trunk curling inward across the chest, a tall crown above the head, and jewelry traced in pale bands that keep the body clearly separated from the black ground. Pink and deep rose carry most of the form, while white, silver gray, and warm cream pick out the clothing, instrument body, and ornaments. The dark background pushes those tones forward, and it makes the pale instrument neck feel longer than it is. The acrylic surface appears dry and speckled, almost stone like at a glance, because the color is built from dense stippled marks instead of broad blended passages. Fine curved lines on the crown, borders, and drapery tighten the image and keep it from feeling heavy despite the large central figure. So this painting needs open wall space and a plain surrounding surface, with enough distance around the edges for the dark field to hold its full weight.

Vikrant Karyakarte

Vikrant Karyakarte

I am Vikrant P. Karyakarte, a professional artist with over 14 years of experience. Painting has been my passion since childhood and my chosen profession. For me, painting is not just applying colour on canvas; it is a way to express what I see, feel, and think. I work across subjects and styles, especially nature, animals, vehicles, and Lord Ganesha. I have also created historical series on Shivcharitra, the Goa Inquisition, and Aryabhatta. My works have been exhibited in India and abroad.
