About the artwork

The long red mridangam across the lower edge often lands a moment after the eye catches the elephant head, and it changes the whole reading of Ganesha With Mridangam. The figure is shown as a seated Ganesha with multiple arms, a crown, necklaces, a curled trunk, and musical attributes that make the devotional subject feel active instead of still. The deity sits squarely near the center on a deep black ground. One arm lifts a small object, another raises a horn-like instrument, and the drum cuts horizontally across the foreground so the body feels anchored even with all the outward motion. The paint handling looks built from dense speckling and small dotted marks, with crisp outlines around the limbs and ornaments, and the surface would keep its visual grain even in flat light because the white flecks and dark stipple stay visible at the edges. And the palette pushes hard contrast: electric blue skin, warm gold detailing, a saturated red drum and sash, and black negative space that makes every contour snap forward. This is wrong for a very small room with soft, pale decor where the dark field and high contrast would feel too forceful.

Vikrant Karyakarte

Vikrant Karyakarte

I am Vikrant P. Karyakarte, a professional artist with over 14 years of experience. Painting has been my passion since childhood and my chosen profession. For me, painting is not just applying colour on canvas; it is a way to express what I see, feel, and think. I work across subjects and styles, especially nature, animals, vehicles, and Lord Ganesha. I have also created historical series on Shivcharitra, the Goa Inquisition, and Aryabhatta. My works have been exhibited in India and abroad.
