About the artwork

Two elephants dominate the center of Gajpushpa | Pichwai Elephant Artwork. They stand face to face under a scalloped arch, placed evenly on either side of a tall flower stem, while curling branches and small blossoms fill the space above them and a narrow border runs along the bottom edge. The subject is direct and ceremonial, with the paired animals, the central bloom, and the mirrored canopy locked into a strict frontal symmetry that keeps the image steady even with the dense ornament packed into the middle. Soft peach, cream, black, brown, and muted grey set the palette, so the contrast stays controlled and the patterned blankets remain easy to read against the pale ground. The technique appears flat and decorative, with clean outlines, repeated motifs, and filled shapes instead of modeled volume, and the surface reads smooth in the image, without heavy texture or thick raised marks. And it needs enough blank wall around it, since the centered design and border feel cramped when crowded by shelves or nearby frames.
