About the artwork

Graphite pencil work drives this image through fine lash lines, soft blending around the lid, and tight tonal shifts inside the iris. The mark making stays controlled, with clean edges at the highlight and a gradual fade across the skin, and the paper reads smooth even where the shadows deepen near the upper lid. The palette is entirely grayscale, moving from pale silver tones in the sclera to darker charcoal notes in the pupil and lash line. That limited range keeps the contrast clear without making the image feel harsh. The subject is a single human eye, enlarged until the iris, pupil, lashes, and inner corner become the whole event. The title Window to the Soul fits the direct gaze, but the drawing stays factual in what it shows, with no extra setting and no surrounding facial detail beyond the immediate eyelids. And because the composition is cropped close and runs nearly edge to edge, it needs open wall space and some viewing distance to keep the realism legible. Place it on an accent wall or in an office where glare stays low and nearby decor is simple.
