About the artwork

Photography is all about capturing the light, whether it is front light or backlight. In this particular image it's the backlight falling from behind the male spotted deer, or the 'Rim light' as we call it. It's tough to photograph this light, as you must decide whether you want to show details on the face or capture the glorious rim light. I decided to capture the beautiful rim light, illuminating the deer's antlers making it look more artistic.
