About the artwork

Large on a statement wall, this piece works best where a single image can hold steady attention across the room. The subject is a close, frontal Buddha face with closed eyes, a relaxed mouth, and a glowing mark at the center of the forehead. Gold leaves hang across the top edge and down the sides. They frame the face without breaking its stillness. The palette stays in bronze, charcoal, brown, and muted gold, with soft amber light gathered at the brow, lips, and cheek contours. Dark passages around the edges keep the face forward, and the warm metallic accents give The Enlightened a low, candlelit feel that reads clearly even from several feet away. But the image doesn't feel busy. The technique appears digitally painted, with very smooth transitions across the eyelids and nose, fine spiral ornament around the hairline, and leaf surfaces built with brighter highlights that suggest a textured metallic finish. One long vertical glow above the brow acts like a visual pin, because it locks the centerline and reinforces the symmetry of the face and the cropped format. Placement suits a pooja room, bedroom, or quiet living area more than a narrow gallery wall, since the image needs enough breathing space for the centered face to stay calm. It can take dimmer corners well, and the strongest fact remains the closed eyes under the band of gold leaves.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Madhumita Bhattacharya

Madhumita Bhattacharya

My work is entirely freehand and deeply imaginative. Every painting begins as a vision within my mind long before it appears on canvas. I visualize the composition, mood, and spiritual energy of the work internally, allowing the creative process to unfold intuitively. When I finally begin painting in oils, the ideas and images that have taken shape in my thoughts gradually manifest into reality.
