About the artwork

Blue grey and amber shape the room's light first, casting a dim, warm glow that reads softly from across the wall. The painting uses smooth blending and misty edges, with shaded contours around the nose, lips, and eyelids that keep the large face calm instead of hard. Tathagata centers on a Buddha face with closed eyes, a bright circular mark on the forehead, and lotus buds floating up the left side and lower edge. The subject is cropped close so the forehead, eyes, and mouth fill nearly the whole square, which makes it better on a clear wall where the image can hold space without nearby clutter or small decorative pieces competing for attention. And the palette stays restrained, moving between smoky blue, green, and a concentrated orange halo that pulls the eye to the middle, while faint script pressed into the dark side background remains visible only after a longer look. The strongest fact here is the bright orb at the center of the forehead.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Madhumita Bhattacharya

Madhumita Bhattacharya

My work is entirely freehand and deeply imaginative. Every painting begins as a vision within my mind long before it appears on canvas. I visualize the composition, mood, and spiritual energy of the work internally, allowing the creative process to unfold intuitively. When I finally begin painting in oils, the ideas and images that have taken shape in my thoughts gradually manifest into reality.
