About the artwork

This piece reads best at medium to large scale, where its centered form and heavy texture can hold a main wall in a living room, foyer, or office. The palette moves from black, charcoal, and deep rust red into a bright white center, with the gold bird shape catching the eye first because it sits against the lightest area and keeps its edge even inside the rough surface. It suits walls with some breathing room around it, especially plain painted surfaces, since busy shelving or patterned wallpaper would compete with the circular sweep of marks. The subject is a stylized bird with raised wings, close to a phoenix image, placed almost like an emblem in the middle of a vortex. And the title Rebirth fits what is visible without needing a literal scene. The paint appears built up with broad dragged strokes and ridged arcs, while the gold area looks flatter and more solid, which makes the figure stand apart from the scratched and striated ground when light hits the surface from the side. This is wrong for a very small room, a soft pastel scheme, or a quiet resting space that needs low visual pressure.
