About the artwork

A sharp dark silhouette on the left is set against pale washes, so the temple mass holds its shape even as the sky and river soften around it. The placement keeps the tallest structure left of center, while the open water and low bridge stretch across the middle and right, giving the ghat a long horizontal breath. Small figures near the steps and landing help fix the scale, and the title Krishna River Ghat anchors the scene in a riverside setting with temple architecture and stone embankments. Blue, teal, grey, and light green carry most of the image, with a muted yellow band along the bank adding warmth without breaking the hush. But the palette stays restrained enough that the dark tower and its reflection do most of the visual work, especially where the water holds a faint mirrored patch below the landing. The watercolor handling is loose at the edges and controlled where the buildings need definition, because the brush leaves crisp accents for spires and parapets while letting misty washes merge in the distance. Paper texture is slight, and the surface reads flat and matte.
