About the artwork

A vertical block of abstract symbols and masklike forms sits within a deep red field. Layered symbolic abstraction shapes the image, with scraped passages, uneven edges, and stacked marks that look built up and worn back in turns. Some forms feel stamped into place while others soften into the surrounding surface, and the title Abstract Shloka supports that reading without making every sign fully legible. The palette stays in burnt red, rust, umber, and dull gold, with darker maroon pockets that thicken the center and lighter orange haze near the outer edges. A few pale patches break the density. And those lighter notes keep the middle panel from collapsing into one dark mass, especially where rounded and vertical forms press against each other in a tight grid that suggests Ganesha through symbolic abstraction more than direct outline. This suits a wall that can handle heat and weight in the color, especially a pooja room, hallway, or living area with plain surrounding surfaces and limited visual clutter. The surface reads matte and visibly layered.

Shibuji Nathan

With over 15 years of artistic practice, my work is deeply inspired by travels across India's heritage and ancient sites, where I study architecture, spirituality, and the symbols of the Indus Valley Civilization. Trained in Fine Arts (ATD & GD Art), I use rollers, textured layers, and acrylic or oil washes to create abstract compositions that blend history, sacred energy, and contemporary expression into powerful visual narratives.
